Yesterday we published a letter from one of our readers, calling for green spaces to be included in the Weymouth Quay Regeneration Project.

Here's what some of our online readers said in response:

There are plenty of green, open spaces in Weymouth. There is no desperate need to add more.

Pundamentalism

THAT’S your opinion, my opinion is that you can never have enough green, open spaces in a town.

Boyorgirl

I believe I once read somewhere that when Weymouth town centre and the surrounding harbour was ‘planned’ green spaces where mostly excluded initially, as it was deemed that the sea air was superior.

I also believe that the attempt to fix this issue (park district) failed, hence why in Weymouth town and harbour we have a lack of green areas - Nothe being the exception. Radipole lake (backwater) was a late edition.

Have a look on google maps - park district to the Nothe - a lack of green spaces.

Little Bobby Tables

I had always assumed that the main reason for a lack of parks and green spaces between the Nothe and Park District was that this was essentially already a built up areas long before people starring opening parks in towns.
