Dorchester Poverty Action is asking the question: “Do you actually need your winter fuel allowance?”
The charity helps support people living in poverty locally.
It is encouraging anyone who doesn’t need their winter fuel allowance to distribute it locally to those who are in financial crisis in the DT1 and DT2 areas.
The requests come from social workers and health visitors who know a family or individual's circumstance.
A spokesman for the charity said: “We are expecting even more applications this winter.
“Please donate through Dorchester Poverty Action’s website www.dorchesterpovertyaction.org.uk or contact info@dorchesterpovertyaction.org.uk or ring 01305 260959.”
