COUNCILLOR Stan Williams has been appointed as the new deputy mayor of Lyme Regis.
At a full meeting of Lyme Regis Town Council, Cllr Williams was unanimously voted in as deputy mayor.
Speaking at the meeting, Lyme Regis Mayor Brian Larcombe praised Cllr Williams' commitment to his role on the Town Council.
He said: "Every event I have been to, Stan is at that event. He is always there. He would be very supportive of me."
His appointment comes following the resignation of Cllr Jeff Scowen.
At the meeting, councillors also discussed the prospect of the council by election.
It was agreed that, in spite of the likelihood of low turnout, polling cards would still be issued to voters.
