AN ENGINEERING company is aiming to create two new jobs after announcing its expansion.

Pacer, which operates at Oxford Court on the Granby Industrial Estate, celebrated 30 years in business last month.

The company specialises in making products work using light technology.

Jon Beeching, Manager of Pacer, Weymouth said “I just find the concept of light fascinating.

“I have been working in this field for a very long time and we have a wealth of talented engineers and designers in our team.

“We employ 13 people in Weymouth, but the Pacer group has four other sites in the UK with a total workforce of almost 50 people.

“Our team of experts in Weymouth really are the heart of a niche in the light industry.

“We overcome problems, bring solutions and do everything for our clients from consulting, production, manufacturing, testing to full design and certification.

“Weymouth really is the perfect place to work and spend quality free time.”

Mr Beeching went on to say “At Pacer we have one of the only “clean rooms” in the south of the UK where ultra clean assembly and manufacture can be created for specialist projects.

“Next year we hope to employ a further two people in the Weymouth unit.

Mickey Jones, Chief Executive of DJ Property said the company provides excellent opportunities for job seekers.

He said: “We are very lucky to have such a specialist company based on the Granby Industrial Estate.

“Pacer provide high quality jobs for highly qualified professionals offering excellent career prospects and progression.

“I have been only too happy to help the Directors of Pacer find new premises to enable the growth and expansion of the business over the past 12 – 18 months.

“We have very high occupancy on the Granby Industrial Estate but by working with businesses in the early stages of growth plans we can look at different ways of creating bespoke space by offering flexible terms to businesses on a temporary or permanent basis.”

Pacer specialises in light, and the many ways of detecting light, emitting light and switching light, the properties of different laser sources and the use of light in display technology.
