A power cut affected 1,357 homes in Dorset this morning.

Among them were residents in Dorchester and Weymouth.

According to SSEN the power cut happened at 8.56am.

Engineers were then sent to the area two minutes later to investigate the cause of the fault and to carry out repairs.

Power is due to be restored at around 12pm today.

An SSEN spokesman said: “We would like to apologise to our customers who have been impacted by this morning’s power cut and thank them for their patience while our engineers work to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.

“We’d like to reassure our customers our teams are well prepared to respond promptly to any damage to our network, where it is safe to do so, but I’d ask anyone concerned about the potential disruption to supplies, particularly those who may need extra support during a power cut, to call our teams on 105 where our dedicated teams are available to help.”
