A FIRM which is planning to build an extension at its premises and create jobs has received support from Weymouth Town Council.
Medisave, a business off Mercery Road, Weymouth which supplies medical and nursing equipment, is asking for outline permission to build a 1,100 square metre warehouse-style building south of its headquarters.
If approved it will nearly double the size of the existing building and will include a service yard, turning area and space for parking for up to 30 members of staff, with access off Mercery Road.
Weymouth Town Council met on Wednesday to discuss the plans before they go to Dorset Council for a final decision.
Cllr Jon Orrell said: “I am generally in support. This is a high-end firm, importing and distributing medical instruments around the country. It’s good local employment.
“I back them and think it’s good that they’re expanding, so I have no objection.”
Cllr Lucy Hamilton, chairman of the planning committee, said: “We welcome this extension to employment land. I am proposing no objection.”
The town council agreed to unanimously back the plans.
