FIVE flats could be created above and to the rear of a shop in St Mary Street, Weymouth.
Alterations to the building have been requested at 8A and 8B to create the flats on the first, second and third floors, to include a rear terrace and balcony.
The site is adjacent to Marks & Spencer on the north side of the street with a retail unit, which would remain in use, on the ground floor. The second and third floor is currently vacant with the building having a rear entrance and courtyard via New Street.
The proposed changes include refurbishing the shop unit, refurbishing or replacing existing windows and adjusting internal walls and doors to create the flats, together with building a terrace and balcony to the rear.
Comments on the proposals can be made to Dorset Council until February 18th.
