The Bridport and District Model Railway Club is celebrating the success of its annual New Year exhibition.

Taking place at the beginning of January in Beaminster, the displayed received support from many local residents as well as visitors from across the region.

The public were able to view exhibits from across Dorset, with all popular scales represented from the large 'O' gauge through to the much smaller 'N' gauge.

Scenes included Wykechester, a large '00' gauge shunting yard by Geoff Balston from Weymouth, and Winter Scene by eight-year-old Joe Bond from Blandford.

The BR steam and diesel era was represented by Shirley Fielden, from Bridport, with her ā€˜Nā€™ gauge layout Bearston, while Bob Machin displayed the Victorian era with Sherwins Yard.

This year the club again welcomed John Day, from Bridport, who displayed some brilliant models made from Meccano, including Blackpool Tower, two active golf ball throwing models and a clock, which throughout the day kept very good time.

Various dioramas which had been made for the club competition were also on display, showing visitors what can be produced based on a piece of plywood.

Club publicity officer Douglas Beazer commented: "We were extremely fortunate to have exhibits in Beaminster of such high quality, many of which are quite compatible with the national level of modelling."

Exhibition manager Bob Ahrens added: "There really was something for everyone at the show and we want to thank visitors and local residents for their generous support."

The club's next exhibition will be at Colfox School, Bridport, on Saturday, July 25.
