Passengers travelling on the Weymouth to Bristol line this weekend are warned they will have to get a bus for part of their journey.

The line between Dorchester West and Yeovil Pen Mill will be closed all day on Saturday and Sunday for refurbishment work at Poundbury tunnel and Bradford Peverell as well as works to prepare for bridge replacement work at Yetminster.

It is the first of a series of closures to affect the 'Heart of Wessex' route in the coming months as engineers strengthen tunnels, bridges and refurbish and renew track.

On Saturday, buses will replace trains between Weymouth and Yeovil Pen Mill and it is warned some services which run beyond Yeovil will be amended.

On the Sunday, buses will replace trains Weymouth and Castle Cary.

The line will be closed again next weekend.
