Coastguard teams were alerted last night
COASTGUARDS were called to assist the police in the search for a missing person on Portland last night.
After extensive searches following the alert at 11.30pm the person was found elsewhere.
A spokesman for Portland Bill Coastguard said: "The team was tasked by NMOC (National Maritime Operations Centre) along with Wyke Coastguard CRT and Dorset Search and Rescue to assist Weymouth & Portland Police with a missing person search on Portland.
"The casualty was located in another location."
