RESCUE teams were alerted to a car sliding towards a cliff edge at Ringstead.
A spokesman for Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team said: "The full team was paged at 16:23 yesterday along with Lulworth CRT, DWFRS and Dorset Police, to reports of a car sliding towards the edge of the carpark at Ringstead.
"On route it was confirmed that there were no longer any occupants in the vehicle and were safe at the scene.
"Upon arrival the team met with the first informant whose 4x4 had slipped whilst transitioning the first section of the very boggy grassed area, coming to rest precariously close to the steep drop.
"Due to the specialist nature of the recovery, the vehicle owner called their breakdown provider who arranged for the car to recovered by winch.
"With the occupants safe, and the recovery confirmed, all resources were stood down from the incident."
