A POPULAR ice cream store has closed its doors due to an 'electrical issue' – but is no longer listed on the firm's website.

Sprinkles Gelato, on New Canal, Salisbury closed 'temporarily' on January 24, without warning, prompting questions from residents.

However, owners have still not revealed when or if the store - which also has bases in Bournemouth and Southampton - will reopen.

Responding to a question on social media site Twitter, bosses said: "The store has been closed since Friday [January 24] due to electrical issue.

"There should be a notification about this displayed at the front if the store."

The sign reads: "Unfortunately we are closed. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Sprinkles has been contacted for comment, but it is understood the company will release a statement in the next week.

As reported, the store was given a hygiene rating of zero out of five by the Food Standards Agency, which called on owners to make "urgent" improvements.
