TRADERS beware - fake banknotes are being used in Dorset.
A warning has been issued by police after it was reported that someone tried to exchange counterfeit £50 notes for cash in Shaftesbury yesterday.
North Dorset Police said that shops, travel agencies, post offices and banks in other areas should also be on their guard.
A spokesman for the force said: "Be aware and check any notes for authenticity as someone tried to use these in town but spotted by a very aware member of staff.
"These characters often travel about so other nearby towns please also be aware."
