A lorry driver caught using his phone at the wheel told officers it was because he needed to speak to his boss.
Officers from Dorset Police’s No Excuse Team had a busy day patrolling north Dorset on Thursday, spending the majority of the day in Blandford and surrounding areas.
They stopped the lorry driver outside the town after catching him on his phone whilst driving.
According to Dorset Police, he stated he was on the phone to his boss as the lorry was new and they were talking about it.
He will receive six points, a £200 fine and will be reported to the traffic commissioner.
A woman was also stopped by police due to her manner of driving. She was found to have a provisional licence and no insurance. She had borrowed the car from her partner to go to the tip whilst he was sleeping.
And whilst travelling back to Poole, officers saw the driver of a van approaching a roundabout the police vehicle was on.
The driver had a phone in his hand, so officers stopped and allowed the vehicle out - the driver took the other hand off of the wheel and waved to thank officers while also not wearing a seatbelt.
