A TEENAGE boy was punched and kicked by a gang of youths during a bicycle theft on Portland.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The incident happened at around 4pm yesterday. Police said a group of four teenagers approached two teenage boys in Easton Square Gardens and asked to have a go on their bikes.

After two members of the group had cycled around for a short time, they refused to give one of the bikes back. They then cycled away with it down an alleyway.

The victims followed them, repeatedly asking for their bike back.

One of the offenders then took a multi-tool from his pocket but did not open the blade. He then punched one of the victims in the chest and kicked his leg, causing him to fall to the floor, before making off with the rest of the group in the direction of Channel View Road.

The victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident.

The stolen bike is a Whyte 802 mountain bike.

Police Constable Will Harris, of Weymouth police, said: “An investigation is underway into this incident and following enquiries, I have obtained images of the stolen bike.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen it in the area, or who may have any information to assist my investigation, to please get in touch."
