A FUNDRAISING race night at the Royal Dorset Yacht Club was declared ‘ship shape’ by all who took part.

Members and guests at the clubhouse on Weymouth’s Custom House Quay placed their bets to help local man Brett Hibbitt raise money for Children With Cancer UK.

Entertainment was provided by live bands, and attendees enjoyed a delicious fish and-chip-supper.

A grand total of a grand total of £1,055 was raised on the night, which took place on February 7 and was run by Mike Parker who volunteered his time to make the event a success.

Brett - who is running the London Marathon in support of Children with Cancer - said: “Mike is a local hero and creates a fantastic night, so I’d like to say a big thanks for his help in raising £1,055.

“I would also like to thank all those who donated prizes and helped with the evening, including Louise from Accuherbs, Stuart from Global Harvest; Breeze, Stuart Barnes; Rachael; Debbie Ferris; GRBS, Marlborough Fish and Chips; Julien Lawes Tennis, and The Wake Ukelelians.

“Many thanks also to Cheryl Heard for all her support.”
