A woman was taken to hospital after suffering injuries from falling on a bus.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene after reports that a person had been hurt on a First Bus on Boot Hill and someone had been injured.

The bus pulled into the stop on Westwey Road following the incident at about 9.15am.

An onlooker said a police car parked by the bus and an ambulance also arrived on the scene.

They said: "30 minutes later they opened the side door of the bus, the police man stopped the traffic and about seven people got off and walked away."

At about 10.45am they saw someone carried off the bus on a stretcher into the ambulance.

Police confirmed that one person sustained injuries in a collision on Boot Hill. It is understood that despite there not being any collision, police still record injuries on buses in this way.

A spokesman for the South West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 8.58am about an incident on the A354 Westwey Road, Weymouth. The caller reported to us that someone had fallen on a bus.

"We treated a female patient at the scene and took her to hospital for further care."

A spokesman for First Bus added: “We’ve launched an urgent investigation to fully understand the circumstances of the incident.”
