A  DRIVER was clocked doing 114mph on the A35 yesterday.

When stopped and questioned by police he said he had driven from Birmingham for a job interview.

He  was stopped by the Dorset Police No Excuse team breaking the limit in a 70mph zone as they returned from Weymouth to Poole following a day of action in the resort.

A spokesman said: "On the way back to Poole on the A35 numerous speed checks were conducted the highest 114mph in a 70.

"The driver had driven from Birmingham for a job interview.

"Today the majority of the team had been in the Weymouth/Portland area.

"First thing we visited Westfield School and worked with other agencies and our RCRO 58 checking numerous vehicles dropping pupils off.

"Then whilst there we conducted numerous speed checks around roads complained about.

"During this another vehicle was seized for no insurance, no licence and being in a dangerous condition. The owner signed this one over for disposal. Another dangerous vehicle off the road."
