COMBENS of Portland is asking to build a first floor extension at its Easton Lane premises to add to its showroom and office space.
The application to Dorset Council says it will add about one third to the existing building but will not affect the number of car parking spaces or the number of staff.
The electrical company plan to to extend over the rear roof and provide stairs and a lift to the first floor open plan space to show electrical goods.
It says the proposal will alter the main wall finish with a grey coloured cladding which will improve the appearance of the building and the thermal/water resistance. The roof is to match the main roof with a slate finish.
It says that from Easton Lane the property is in keeping with the same style and scale as the existing building, but from the opposing side will appear as two storey.
Permission is being delegated to a planning officer with comments on the application open until March 24.
