THE A31 between the Merley and Roundhouse roundabouts will be closed overnight for three weeks starting on March 9.

Highways England initially scheduled the work to replace lighting columns for November 2019, but after the discovery of Roman remains it was postponed.

The road will be closed between 9pm and 6am. Traffic wanting to travel westbound on the A31 will be diverted south on the A341 and onto the A349, then south onto the A350 and north on the A350 to Roundhouse roundabout.

To travel eastbound, traffic will be diverted south on the A350 at Roundhouse roundabout to the A35, then west on the A35 to A349 and north on the A341 to the Merley roundabout.

Traffic wanting to join the A31 from the northern side of Lake Gates roundabout will be diverted towards Wimborne Mister, along the B3073 Oakley Hill to either pick up the main diversion for A31 westbound or join the A31 eastbound at the Merley roundabout.

Traffic wanting to join the A31 from the southern side of Lake Gates roundabout will be diverted onto the B3074 towards Poole, then either east or west along the main diversion.
