POLICE are urging people to be wary of door to door salespeople after a vulnerable person reported being targeted.
Police have warned that salespeople have been calling around the area - mainly in Shaftesbury - and turning up for jobs that do not need doing.
The warning comes after a vulnerable person was approached by such people and their neighbours put forward similar reports.
A spokesman for North Dorset Police said: "We have received a call from a vulnerable person today who had some men turn up and claim their roof needed fixing, and demanded a stupid amount of money, for something that did not need doing. Thankfully no money has been paid. Whilst speaking with neighbour's it appears there have been a few groups going around trying to do jobs that do not need doing. Please, please do not buy from door step or travelling sales persons. Please report on 101 if this has already happened or 999 at the time."
