AN evening to celebrate 20 years of Bridport Millennium Green Trust has been hailed a success.

The event was held on Saturday, February 20 at Bridport Town Hall with a fantastic performance from Bridport Broadsiders.

The purpose of the event was to mark the anniversary of the trust which looks after the green area surrounding Mountfield in Bridport.

A spokesman for the Friends of Bridport Millennium Green, the group which organised the event, said: “A well-attended, really fun evening was held on Saturday with songs and anecdotes from Bridport Broadsiders, a local male sea shanty group.”

The next fundraising event will take place on Thursday, March 12 at Bridport Town Hall with local author and postcard enthusiast Bernard Paull giving a talk.

The talk will be based on his new book - Loders Back-Along, schoolboy memories of the 1950s and pictures of even earlier.

This will be an illustrated talk with pictures of the old village of Loders and of locals and evacuees from war-torn cities.

The event will begin at 2.30pm and tickets cost £5 and include tea and biscuits.
