A FUN run with a difference is set to dazzle in Dorset.

The Glitter Run, taking place to raise funds for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, will boast an array of participants who will ditch the Lycra in favour of glittery costumes.

This Daily Echo-backed five kilometre event, taking place in Poole's Baiter Park and Whitecliff, is the charity's first Glitter Fun Run in the area.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care fundraising director Tom Goodinge said: “The course comprises a picturesque route.

The first 100 participants to sign up will receive a glitter run t-shirt.

"Everyone taking part will also receive a glitter run medal when they have completed the fun run."

As runners take on the course they will pass through a number of glitter stations, where they will be showered with sparkly glitter.

All the glitter used will be biodegradable, 100 per cent plastic free and micro-plastic free.

The day will finish with a glitter party for all the family to enjoy.

Tom said: "You will also be sent an e-welcome pack, designed to help you reach and beat your fundraising target.

"Your sponsorship can make a real difference to families and patients facing a life limiting illness.

"Please note your entrance fee only covers the cost of the event. We are asking everyone to raise a minimum £40 sponsorship or make a donation to help your local charity hospice, so we can continue to provide extraordinary care in your community.

"You can run, walk, hop, skip or jump, whatever makes you smile.

"The route is family friendly and not too challenging, and we hope to see hundreds join in and take part in the first ever Dorset Glitter Run.”

The Glitter Run takes place on May 2.

Registration opens at 10am, with runners setting off at 11.30am and people can sign up from £15 (free for children under eight-years-old).
