A cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment following a hit and run in north Dorset.

At 7.50pm on Wednesday, March 11, Dorset Police received a report of a crash involving a car and cyclist on Blandford Road in Shillingstone.

The cyclist, who is aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital by ambulance after suffering lacerations to his hands and head.

Police officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following the incident.

Police Constable Matt Saunders, of North Dorset police, said: “An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the collision.

“It is believed that the cyclist may have been in collision with a silver Audi A3 that was travelling in the direction of Sturminster Newton.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or has relevant dashcam footage to assist my enquiries, to please get in touch.

“If you were travelling along Blandford Road at the time of the incident and think you may have been the driver of the vehicle involved, please come forward.”
