A 14-year-old girl who fell from her kayak whilst out at sea sparked a response from emergency services.
Multiple 999 calls were made following the incident in Kimmeridge Bay, yesterday afternoon.
The girl was reportedly around 250 metres offshore when she found herself unable to get back aboard in the choppy conditions.
A spokesman for Lulworth Coastguard said: “We were sent to back up our colleagues at Kimmeridge Coastguard. Swanage Lifeboat Station were also sent to the scene.
“As the team were arriving in the area, news came through that the kayaker had made it to shore, helped by a member of public on a stand-up paddleboard.
“The coastguard teams arrived and provided casualty care. The girl was cold after spending some ten minutes in the water and had swallowed an amount of sea water.
“She and her family were advised to make their way to a local minor injuries unit for a more detailed assessment.
“The teams then recovered the kayak to avoid further call outs. With the girl on her way to hospital, the teams were stood down and returned to their stations.”
