MULTIPLE crews of firefighters were called to a fire at a Portland prison.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were contacted at around 11.27am with reports of a fire in a prison cell at Portland Youth Offenders Institute.
A spokesman for the brigade said: "Multiple crews from various fire stations were mobilised to a report of a fire in the cell of a Youth offenders institute on Portland.
"Portland fire station booked in attendance and confirmed the fire, located in the cell was extinguished prior to arrival of the service by onsite staff. All oncoming appliances were stood down from the incident."
