A number of crews across Dorset battled a large heath fire
Crews were called to a fire, approximately 750 square metres in size, in Wareham Forest just after 10.15pm and included Poole, Wimborne, Wareham, Hamworthy, Bere Regis, Swanage, Christchurch and Ringwood.
A spokesman for Wareham Fire Station said: "Following a report of smoke and fire being visible in a field, a crew from Bere Regis was mobilised to Wareham Forest. Once in attendance, the crew confirmed a large area of heath to be alight near Woolsbarrow Fort and requested the attendance of two off-road pumping appliances, two Land Rover pumps and a Unimog truck.
" A further request for assistance was then received for another two off-road appliances and two water carriers. The wildfire tactical advisor also attended.
"The fire, which was approximately 750 square metres in size, was extinguished using multiple hoe reel jets, main lines and the Unimog and one pump and a Land Rover remained in attendance damping down hot spots."
