SOUTH Dorset MP Richard Drax was right when he said that we are a desirable place to visit, with our outstanding scenery, not just the Jurassic Coast, being the main reason for coming west to Dorset, but the general beauty of our rustic hinterland.

Many have now second homes around our county. This, coupled with weekenders, and day trippers from areas of much greater populace are more likely to bring, inadvertently, COVID-19 with them. Mr Drax has politely asked that they do not visit Dorset, no matter how inviting a stay here may seem. I do not know if he is also referring to second home owners, or just the tourist sector, but as out of town second homers, draconian as it may seem, they too must remain in their main abode, and not consider, those that can afford it, self isolating themselves in their second home here in Dorset. As to arrive here from choice, they too, as with tourists put us at risk. At present Dorset is on the lower end of the scale as far as recorded persons found to be positive contractors of COVID-19,with one of the lowest death rates to date, compared with other parts of the United Kingdom.
