THE Premier League have today announced the season “will only return when it is safe and appropriate to do so” due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Club chiefs, including AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake and chairman Jeff Mostyn, met via video conference on Friday to discuss the future of the campaign, as well as a range of other crucial topics amid the global pandemic.
The English top flight has also agreed to donate £20million towards the NHS to help fight coronavirus, as well as advancing £125million to the EFL and National League to aid the “severe difficulties clubs throughout the football pyramid are suffering at this time”.
Clubs have also agreed to consult their players over a combination of 30 per cent wage reductions and deferrals.
