As the coronavirus pandemic unfolds, does the council really still intend to enforce restrictions on walking dogs on Weymouth Beach this year?
Despite the recent good weather and school/workplace closures, the beach has not been inundated, and the town will not be expecting its usual surge of visitors over the Easter holidays.
At present, dog walkers are the majority of those using the beach, and to confine them to the dog exercise area (by the Pavilion) will only result in a concentration of people unable to observe social distancing measures, to no good end.
Some flexibility from the Dog Warden service would be appreciated by all of us dog walkers: we want to keep ourselves and our pets away from others too.
