A Weymouth school has loaned care provider Agincare 50 sets of protective goggles to help local care workers on the social care frontline.

Many of Agincare’s usual protective personal equipment (PPE) suppliers have run out of stock, with no indication of when they’ll be resupplied.

So rather than care teams working without essential equipment, sales and marketing director Adam Luckhurst contacted his old senior school - All Saints Academy in Wyke - to see if Agincare could borrow protective goggles not currently being used in science lessons.

Adam Luckhurst said: “We’re determined to continue to deliver essential services to those who rely on us during the coronavirus outbreak. We’re ensuring our teams are following the Government guidance on wearing PPE.

"The Department of Health and Social Care is attempting to distribute supplies of face masks and other essential protective equipment to all care providers, however we wanted to be proactive and get on and try to find local solutions to boost our stock.

"Everyone at Agincare, including our clients, is incredibly grateful that Mr Cornish and the school have risen to the challenge of helping us at this difficult time.”

All Saints principal, John Cornish, said: “When Adam’s email came through I immediately replied to say we wanted to do what we could to answer Agincare’s plea for equipment. Communities need to come together at times like this, and we’re only too happy to help our hard-working local care teams, in any way we can.”

Adam Luckhurst added:“We’d love to hear from other local businesses - such as beauty therapists, nail technicians and tattoo parlours, as well as other schools and colleges - which may have a stock of gloves and/or face masks they’d be willing to donate to frontline social care workers. Their donations really will help save lives. Please email facilities@agincare.com if you’re able to help.”
