A young musician from Dorset will give a special performance tonight as a tribute to the NHS to bring joy to people in lockdown.

Hannah McFarlane, 17, is from West Stafford and has been playing the cello for 12 years and the flute for nine years.

She will be streaming a live performance from her front garden which can be viewed on her Facebook page tonight at 8pm to entertain health workers and those in self-isolation alike with her tribute to the NHS.

She has also made a video tribute to the NHS, with a cover of 'Over the Rainbow'.

She said: "Since my A Levels were cancelled, I decided to use my spare time to arrange songs for flute and cello. I will be studying music in the autumn at Christ Church College Oxford so thought I’d be productive with my time.

"I know this is a difficult time for many and wanted to bring a few minutes of joy to people. I released my first video in the first week of lockdown and the response was unbelievable, so I decided to do more.

"Everyone living in Dorset has undoubtedly visited DCH and recognises the amazing work all the staff do. At this time, we value their selflessness more than ever and I hope this video shows my appreciation."

Hannah added: "A huge thank you to all the key workers in the NHS and in particular at DCH. Their devotion to their work is inspiring and we should all show our respect by staying at home, enabling them to do their jobs most effectively by taking the pressure off the NHS.

"All of us are making some form of sacrifice at this time but none more so than NHS staff and other key workers who are risking their health daily. I hope this video can bring a little light relief to people struggling at this time and encourage everyone to do their part and stay at home."
