This was the scene at Dorset County Hospital last night as a convoy of lorries, tractors and other vehicles paid it a visit to Clap for our Carers.

Members of the haulage, recovery and farming communities made their way to the hospital in Dorchester to pay tribute to key workers.

A procession of vehicles from local businesses, including Bride Valley Recovery, Ashley Wood Recovery, Philip Trim Contractors and G Crook & Sons, through the county town made a spectacular sight.

It was part of the weekly Clap for our Carers, when the country stops what it's doing to clap in a show of appreciation for frontline workers battling the coronavirus pandemic.

For a sixth week, people across Dorset took to doorsteps, balconies and gardens to clap, cheer and clatter their pots and pans.

The national campaign encourages us all to show our appreciation for healthcare workers, emergency services, armed services, delivery drivers, shop workers, teachers, waste collectors, manufacturers, postal workers, cleaners, vets, engineers and all those who are out there making an unbelievable difference to our lives in these challenging times.

It's taken place every Thursdays at 8pm since lockdown began.
