The proposed development to the North of Dorchester, would have, if approved, a profound and substantial effect on the distinctive character of the town.
It would add a development larger than Poundbury, changing forever, the verdant watermeadows and pastureland, that presently borders the county town It should be expected therefore, that before such an important and far reaching decision is made, to approve or reject the scheme, that the proper and adequate public consultation process is scrupulously observed.
I fear that this is not what is happening in the corridors of power in County Hall.
The people of Dorchester who have any regard, or care for the type of town they want Dorchester to be, now, and for the good of future generations, may well emerge from the COVID lockdown, to find that the game has been played in their absence, and awarded by default to the opposition.
