A 91-year-old motorist has handed over his licence after driving the wrong way down a dual carriageway.
Dorset Police's No Excuse team received a report from a concerned member of the public after they witnessed a Honda Jazz driving towards them on the A30 near Sherborne at 4.30pm on April 27.
This was captured on a dash cam and sent to Dorset Police via its Operation Snap website.
The 91-year-old man and his family have since been 'sympathetically' spoken to by police, and he has made the decision to voluntarily sign over his driving licence to them.
This will be returned to DVLA which will conduct enquiries.
A spokesman for the No Excuse team said: "As the picture shows, this could have ended differently. We are very pleased this did not result in a collision. We are also grateful the road was quieter than usual at this time due to the current situation.
"Once again, we are pleased the way this turned out but it's never a pleasant experience accepting a driving licence off an elderly person. We wish him all the best. He has all the relevant safeguarding elements in place with his family and neighbours."
