Another 31 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Dorset.

In the Dorset Council area, 10 new cases have been confirmed, bringing the total to 340.

Another 21 cases have been confirmed in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area, bringing the total 441.

It means a total of 781 people are confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak began.

A total of 6,111 people tested positive across the UK bringing the total to 201,101.

With widespread testing now taking place across the county it is likely these numbers will rise.

As of yesterday a total of 222 people have been confirmed as having died across Dorset after contracting coronavirus.

The figures include deaths in hospitals, care homes and the wider community.

The total includes hospital deaths up to yesterday but deaths in other settings have only been confirmed up to May 1.

Yesterday it was announced another four people have died at Dorset's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

Two patients have died at Poole Hospital, bringing the total to 41, while another two people have died under the care of the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, bringing the total to 57.

There have been no further deaths reported at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester or at Dorset Healthcare, where 23 and 13 patients have died respectively.
