COASTGUARDS were called out to deal with a dog stuck in undergrowth.
A spokesman for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team said they were called at 1pm yesterday to the incident between the old railway line and Littlebeach Eastside.
The spokesman said: "The team was tasked by the National Maritime Operations Centre (NMOC) along with our colleagues Wyke Coastguard CRT to recover a dog that had become stuck in undergrowth on the east side of the island, along the old railway line just above Littlebeach.
"A Cliff Rescue Officer (CRO) on a safety line hacked a path through the bushes towards the sound of the barking dog.
"This spooked the dog causing it to run away from the CRO through another route in the undergrouth back to the safety of its owner at the top of the bank.
"With the dog reunited with it’s owner both teams return to their stations."
