A driver was taken to hospital after hitting a deer on the A352 this morning.

Police were called to the scene just after 3am, along with fire and ambulance services, following a crash on the A352 in Winfrith Newburgh near to The Red Lion pub.

A spokesperson for Wareham Fire Station said: "The car was involved with a collision with a deer. Our wildlife has become so used to not having cars on the road now we have to be extra careful."

The road was closed and reopened at around 4.20am.

The driver was taken to hospital for treatment. The extent of the injuries are not known at this time.
