A body has been found on a Dorset beach.
Police have said the body is that of a local woman aged in her 60s.
Officers were called to Avon Beach, Christchurch, just before 5.30am yesterday.
Police said the woman's family has been informed and that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
A section of the beach and promenade was cordoned off and a white tent was erected on the seafront near the corner of Avon Run Road and Southcliffe Road.
The cordon was in place from near the Beach Hut Cafe to beyond the ramped path down to the beach from Southcliffe Road. Beachgoers were prevented from accessing beach huts throughout the morning.
Residents reported that early yesterday morning there were two police cars and two vans at the scene, as well as paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service.
