The sight of cruise ships coming and going in Weymouth Bay has provided Weymouth and Portland residents with ample photo opportunities over the past few weeks.

There are currently five huge liners anchored in the bay, as cruise companies temporarily suspend their operations due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Photographer Stephen Bath, who took some incredible aerial shots of the ships from a friend's private light aircraft on Wednesday afternoon, said: "They can do nothing but wait out the coronavirus storm until the authorities permit passenger cruising again.

"There is not room in the port of Southampton for all the cruise ships currently inactive due to the coronavirus pandemic, and this location is free parking and well protected from south west winds by Portland Bill."

Currently on view for local residents are the Queen Mary 2, as well as P&O ships Aurora, Arcadia, Azura and Brittania.
