A driver caught doing 129mph claimed they were testing a new car.
Officers from Dorset Police's No Excuse team saw the 'reckless' driver on the Puddletown bypass while out on patrol today.
They were heading for the coast road when they recorded a driver of a Jaguar F-Type doing 129mph. It continued for more than a mile-and-a-half before police could safely stop him.
According to the team, the driver stated he'd only just bought the car and wanted to see what it would do above 70mph. He also told officers he needed his licence for work as a key worker.
A spokesman for the team said: "We are appalled to witness such dangerous, inconsiderate driving. We want people to enjoy themselves and arrive safely. This kind of driving will only end one way."
The driver has been reported to court.
