Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here reflecting on last week’s slightly more relaxed lockdown.

We have noticed while out on our walks, and are concerned that many people are not paying attention to the rules and social distancing. It’s lovely to see people out having a nice time but we find it worrying to see people getting too close to others, such as at the skate park.

The frustrating thing is that if people carry on like that, more people will get infected, the hospitals will get busy again, and we will be in lockdown for longer.

We both want to say something when we see people clearly not in the same household, not social distancing, but we don’t. We worry if we did, people might get cross or swear at us, when we simply want to help keep them safe.

What is good is that we both know people who have been out with friends and stayed two metres apart. Some of my (Emily’s) friends children went to fields and socially distanced.

We both agree with what the government is saying and wish those people who are carrying on as normal would stop messing it up for the rest of us. It’s frustrating as it’s hard for organisations like the police to stop people.

Our advice is don’t forget this is a new virus and although the scientists learn more each day about it, there’s still no vaccine or long term knowledge of it. We believe it’s wise to be careful until there is a cure, and when there is, we hope there is enough for everyone. It will also be interesting to see if a track or trace system develops.

In the meantime, please social distance and stay safe. Listen to Boris and the government and follow the rules.
