Things are slowly starting to get back to normal for one seafront business.

Hive Beach Café in Burton Bradstock is back open and offering takeaway food and drink.

Social distancing measures have been put in place at the café and due to Government guidelines, its seating areas are not in use. Staff are having their temperatures taken at the start of the shift and a one-way ordering system, with one family member allowed at a time and cashless payments where possible, has been introduced.

The toilets have also been opened and will be available only while the café is open, from 12noon to 4pm.

Owner Steve Attrill said: “We are also launching a new menu for ‘Hive and Home’ for when the prime minister says people can have small gatherings of up to 10 or so, lots of local seafood and tasty cream teas.

“We opened on Monday and it was like opening for the first time 29 years ago.

“We’re very excited to get back to work, even on a small scale, and we have had some great support from many people via our online shop, gift vouchers and many more items. We would like to thank Dorset Council for its support.

“The National Trust has re-opened the car park now with the staff on hand to organise the cars should it get busy.”
