TWO extra homes for adults with learning disabilities will be built to the rear of an existing specialist housing complex in Cranford Avenue, Weymouth.

East Boro Housing Trust say they hope to create two one-bed self-contained houses to the rear of 11 Cranford Avenue, a building it already runs.

The Trust say that existing staff based in the house will offer support to those living in the new units, 24-hours a day if required.

The new homes, to match the existing building, will be self-contained terraced properties running along the boundary to the Weymouth College Sports Centre, each  with a lounge and kitchen at ground floor and bedroom and bathroom on the first floor.

Dorset Council approved the consent after receiving no public feedback on the proposals and no objection from Weymouth town councillors.

The new application follows the granting of permission in 2018 for three homes on the same site, which was never built. The new scheme includes a staff room/carer room and toilet on the ground floor in the centre of the two homes.

The application says there will be no need to increase the existing 12 parking spaces on the site.
