EMERGENCY services have been tackling an out of control fire on Portland this afternoon.
Fire crews battled the 'uncontrolled' blaze in an area of bushes at Southwell, after being alerted to the incident at around 2.25pm.
Firefighters used over 200 metres of hose to extinguish the blaze, as well as beaters and raking equipment.
Dorset Police officers also attended 'to discuss the matter with the occupiers'.
A spokesman for Portland Fire Station said: "Following this incident we must again urge the public not to light fires of any kind at the current time due to the hot conditions and the fact that the fire and rescue service is currently stretched.
"Please can we keep negative comments to a minimum, the emergency services have dealt with the incident to a level they feel was necessary."
