Teachers have made a touching message to their pupils to show them they are still thinking of them.

Staff at St Mary’s Primary School have created a photo collage with a special message.

It said ‘Your staff at St Mary’s are so proud of all of you, your endurance, wisdom, hope and compassion during this tricky time amazes us. We love hearing from you and seeing all your learning. Stay safe and keep in touch, see you soon’.

James Houston, a Year 6 teacher at St Mary’s Primary School, said: “We have been supporting 30 to 40 vulnerable and key worker children since lockdown but working in two teams/bubbles so, in many cases, staff had not seen each other since Monday.

“On Monday we welcomed back almost all of our Year 6 pupils and a large number of our reception and Year 1 children as well.

“Thanks to our online communication tools, we have been able to keep in regular contact with our pupils who are at home, but we know many of them are missing school and the St Mary’s family.

“We wanted to use this message to show them that we are still here thinking of them, are proud of their resilience during this challenging time and looking forward to all being back together safe and well in the future.”
