Bicycling has become very very popular in recent years.

Every few minutes of every day of the week motorists are confronted with one and sometimes many more cyclists pedalling the highways and byways of Dorset and beyond.

Road networks, in many areas, now cater for the bicycle.

There are properly painted lanes and lights and paths with markings to distinguish their prominent place in traffic.

The motorist however, is paying for his place on the highway.

With all the consideration now being given towards the cyclist perhaps it is high time that they too are properly licensed and share the very demanding burden of the Road Fund taxation.

This may ease, to some extent, the essential recent overspend by local and national Government towards the COVID19 crisis.
