A fire broke out in an airing cupboard and spread to a roof.
Five fire engines were sent to Compton Abbas just after 7am this morning.
They arrived to find the roof well-alight.
Firefighters from Sherborne were joined by those from Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Sturminster Newton and Blandford.
They found the fire had started in an airing cupboard and had spread to the roof space.
It was extinguished and the property was made safe.
