NEVILLE the pig has finally found a home after over five years of waiting.

Neville was taken in by Margaret Green Animal Rescue’s Rehoming and Visitor Centre in Church Knowle in 2014.

Neville was originally believed to be a micro pig and had to be given up by his previous owner when he grew too big.

He is a cross between a Kune Kune and a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig and is said to be exceptionally intelligent.

Arriving at the centre as a piglet, Neville learned to respond to clicker training, learning tricks such as weaving between the legs of his carers, spinning around and sitting, which was a great source of amusement for visitors.

He also developed something of a fanbase, featuring in local and national press along with starring in his own Instagram page.

Neville has been rehomed to a location where the charity is confident he will receive a lot of love, care and one-to-one interaction.

Neville’s new home is with a gentleman who has a small holding with plenty of acreage, he has set his land up with plenty of enrichment for Neville. He has dead wood piles to root around in, tyres for him to play with and a proper pig house to live in.

Kate Wickens, centre manager at the Rehoming and Visitor Centre in Church Knowle, said: “We’re over the moon that Neville has found a home. We’ve loved having him here but it’s really nice for him to have a family of his own.

“The man he’s gone to has looked after pigs before so he’s very excited about it. He’s settling in well and getting huge amounts of attention. He loves attention so he is a very happy piggy.

“They are difficult animals to look after and you need to really know your stuff to be able to care for them properly, they have very specific requirements.

“That’s why he was with us for so long. They can’t live like cats and dogs to but fortunately the gentleman he has gone to matches all of the requirements perfectly.”
