Four adults and a child were towed to safety after their boat broke down and became stuck against a harbour wall.
The boat broke down at 6:36pm on Wednesday and drifted into the North wall of Lyme Regis harbour.
The owner had attempted to pull the boat along the wall to bring the boat into the harbour but had been unsuccessful.
The Lyme Regis Coastguard team were alerted to the struggling group and sent the lifeboat out to help them.
The lifeboat towed the boat into the harbour and moored it on a temporary pontoon.
The Coastgaurd has given the group safety advice on wearing lifejackets, carrying a radio to call for help and not mixing alcohol and boating.
